Soul Reapers [CLOSED RP]

Alfred slowly opened his eyes, his vision blurred and a bright light making it harder to see. It felt as if a hammer was pounding inside of his head, and his upper body was numb. There was broken glass everywhere, his hands still gripping tightly on the steering wheel of his Mustang. His glasses where thrown to the side somewhere. He pushed the door open with his shoulder, and fell out of the car, the sound of glass crunching as he did. He let out a pained groan and shakily tried to get up. Using his car as support, he pulled himself up, his legs wobbling and taking short steps forward. He saw a girl, with black hair, and some scars on her face. Maybe she was the one he hit with his car. His dry mouth rasped out, "Call an ambulance." before his legs gave out from under him and lost consciousness.

The young man inside the car teetered for a bit before, with a jerk, he fell out from the opened side. And then the silly man tried to get up. She allowed herself to frown, because it was just so...pitiful. His eyes landed on hers and she heard him ask for an ambulance.
It was ironic how the only person standing near him hadn't really existed at all. It wasn't her job that day to reap him. He wasn't on her list and that would give him time to live. A chance for some time longer.He had been someone she had acquainted with, under strange circumstances. It just happened to be a coincidence for her to be there.
She walked away from the site, into an alleyway and phased out of her reaper uniform before stepping out again. Feigning surprise at the scene, she ran towards the car and bade others to act.

He wasn't her responsibility, and it didn't matter where their targets were taken from their mortal selves, but it didn't mean that she couldn't prolong that for a few more seconds.

He had seen her face before, and if she was who he thought she was there was no way he was going to get out of this one alive. She was there during death, and his was the only one he could think off who's was coming soon. His whole body hurt and he was tired, 19 years old and this is how he went. Working too hard and driving while he was exhausted, he fell asleep at the wheel. It was his own damn fault really. Maybe his last words to her should've been 'see you soon' because that's what the next step would be right? To go wherever she got her orders from. Finally, sleep took him over, and he smiled a bit, at least he'd know someone when he got to the other side. Car crash. It was ironic really, that's how they first met.

It was a hot summer day in Brooklyn, New York, outside was moderately cooler than inside the stuffy apartment he lived in with his brother and father. He was sitting on a fire hydrant eating a popsicle, which was quickly melting in his hand. There were children playing in the street, and next thing he knew there was a brutal accident about 20 feet from where he was sitting. He was in shock as the cars were set ablaze. He got up to get a closer looked, but he stopped in his tracks when he felt the presence of someone standing next to him. He looked up at her and her entire outfit changed. This was a lot to take in for someone his age a car crash and now a wicked cool magic trick!
"Whoa! Lady! How'd you do that?" he ask, his eyes in utter awe. His father would probably smack him for talking to strangers. The popsicle completely forgotten and melted on the concrete.

She had arrived under the guise of a young woman waiting for a taxi, or to cross the busy street. But really, she was there to receive the soul that was about to crash. In the ensuing pandemonium, a crowd had filtered out past her into the streets. So no one had noticed her phase off her human guise. All except,this little boy who had been standing beside her.
She looked down at him coolly, although she could admit she had been a bit surprised. But there was a time to reflect and it was not now. So she disappeared into the crowd and made her way to the new soul.

She looked down at him, and his face was full of awe. She noticed him, but didn't say a word and vanished. He reached out for her, "W-Wait!". But by that time she was already gone. He wondered who she was, he asked his father but he said he was crazy and didn't know anyone like that. No one came to their neighborhood unless they already lived there, and no one would just be 'passing by' though Brooklyn was a pretty big place.

The man in the car looked at her, at first terrified and then relieved. She took her sickle and tied the red string that bound him to his body and undid the little knot after the cut. And then she watched the string sizzle and burn in her palm before she blew on it and it disappeared in a cloud of smoke-like white. The smoke collected itself and fell down neatly into the shape of a tiny ring. Depending on the reaper's schooling, they seemed to have different ways of freeing or gathering those souls.

She stepped away from the car accident, phasing back into her human guise and walking out of the crowd leaving the site.

And again, she would see the young boy that had seen her true self.
